Controversy over award winning Byari

Director K P Suveeran’s Byari, which shared the recently announced National award with a Marathi film, is in the midst of a controversy.
Well-known Kannada writer Sara Aboobacker has said that the film is based on her novel titled Chandragiri Theeradalli.
According to certain reports, the highly respected author was approached by the film’s producer for the rights, but she couldn’t do it due to an agreement with NFDC.

However those behind the film went ahead with the project and made the film in ‘Byari’ language, mainly spoken in the coastal region of Kasaragode.

The author is planning to approach the concerned authorities now. Watch this space for more.
