Prakash Bare the producer and protagonist of Ivan Megharoopan received the prestigious John Abraham Awards from Anand Patwardhan.
The prestigious John Abraham Awards was instituted in 1999 by the Federation of Film Societies of India (Keralam) as an annual award for the best Malayalam Feature, Short Feature and Documentary in memory of late director John Abraham
Ivan Megharoopan was a biopic film written and directed by P. Balachandran. The film is based on the life of Malayalam poet P. Kunhiraman Nair. Prakash Bare, who is the producer of the film, also played the protagonist K. P. Madhavan Nair
Bare received the special mention award from Anand Patwardhan, pioneer of independent documentary film making in India. The function was held on Feb 21st in Palakkad, at the closing ceremony of SIGN 12 short and docu film festival organized by Federation of Film Societies of India.
Others present were Jayapala Menon who was honored for his overall contribution to Malayalam cinema. President of FFSI VK Joseph, Film critic GP Ramachandran and director of Aadi Madhyantham.
The citation of the John Abraham special award appreciated director P Balachandran and Prakash Bare for the portrayal of the poet in a realistic manner.
