Mollywood lacks producers with vision

Oscar-winning sound engineer Rasool Pookutty said that the greatest challenge in today's Malayalam film industry is the lack of producers with vision. It has hampered the industry’s growth to a great extent, he said.

Pookutty was interacting with the press at Chitranjali studio in Kakkanad on Saturday. He was in Kochi to dub for his first Malayalam film titled Father’s Day.

"The strength embedded in a Marquez book can be identified only by a good publisher. Only he could shout out to the world that that a particular book is worth reading. Such is the case with films too. Only a producer with good vision can identify the strength of a movie,” he said.

Father’s Day is directed by Kalavoor Ravikumar. Though he was excited about the dubbing in Father’s Day, Pookutty said he was nervous. “Honestly, I am a bit tensed. I am not used to it. My work has always been behind the camera and I always thought that I knew how to react in front of it. But no, I am really tensed," he added.
