Rathinirvedham,
Ina, Chattakari......... In these bandwagon of remakes with plenty of
oomph factor, Contemporary filmmakers of Mollywood are now in the plans
to go for a retelling of an age old classic -'Vazhve Mayam'. This
sensitive family drama of the late sixties directed by Sethumadhavan had
Sathyan, Sheela and Ummer in the lead roles and told the tale of a
suspicious husband who finally loses his family. The movie was later
remade into Tamil with Kamal Haasan and Sreedevi donning the central
characters.
Now after almost five decades from the original, it's
the combo of Babu Janardhanan and Shajoon Karyal who are trying to redo
the film in the modern backdrop. While actor -producer Lal will get a
big opportunity to shine in the role that was made immortal by Sathyan,
Kavya Madhavan will get another chance to excel donning the lead female
character. It is reported that Kunchakko Boban will be in the role that
late Ummer had done in the original. Biju Menon, Thesni Khan and K P A C
Lalitha are also in the cast lines. The movie to be produced by Ovi
Mathew is currently in its pre production stages.
